CardConnect - Reviews And Complaints - First Data

Being in business for over ten years, First Data Parent Company of CardConnect is not accredited by the BBB. Complaints allege the company charges termination fees after stating there was no contract or cancellation fee, has excessively high termination fees, high rates, and dishonest practices

I’m very upset with this company and would NEVER recommend anyone to sign up unless you read ALL the contact's fine print. My sales rep Anthony Vigil, lied to me about canceling my former card processing contract and paying for the fees. He also did not tell me of all the extra fees that would be charged to my account. He rushed me into signing the contract even tho I wanted to read them first. Never sign contracts unless you read them over!!!!!!!! I’m really angry of the way they take advantage of small businesses like mine. I plan on canceling my services with card connect. It’s sad how you can’t trust anyone anymore

I had canceled my account with CardConnect back in August 2016 because they were no longer compatible with the POS system that I was using. In fact, the CardConnect swipe device just stopped working one day with no warning, which as I understand, was a function of CardConnect’s doing. Then, just two weeks ago, on January 3, 2017, I saw a charge to my bank account from CardConnect. I called them to determine why they still had access to debit my account and to see what the charge is for. They mentioned some sort of charge from MasterCard that they passed on to businesses, however there was no paperwork to back this up. I complained that it was unauthorized, as since we ended our affiliation with CardConnect over 4 months ago, they should no longer be authorized to debit my account. I was told I would receive a refund for this amount. I called again today follow up since I hadn’t seen a credit to my account, and spoke to Rich from the Cancellations Department. He was only able to see a note from the last person I spoke to but couldn’t tell if the refund had been issued or not. My main complaint here is that Rich was not overly helpful and incredibly rude with a very sarcastic attitude that I did not appreciate. This kind of service makes me want to warn people against using CardConnect as a merchant services provider, not to mention the unauthorized charge. I am very glad that I have canceled my account with CardConnect

Just another company that tells you one thing, and then erroneous charges popping up that were never discussed with me. It seems like every single page company is just sucking money out of clients for BS services. I am pissed off. they lied to me, total BS lies when I signed up. I’m going after them for my money, at this point, its the principle. DONE go w the company, you’ll be MUCH better off using the square. Thanks for lying to me Dan Santoli. Anything for a sale and commission. Im pissed and will take legal action. POORLY operated company. Another large company raping small business. Wait to go guys, how do you guys sleep at night, maybe you don’t

CardConnect has been debiting my bank account for 10 months by fraudulently claiming I had signed up as a customer. I started getting mail and statements from CardConnect, a company I had never heard off or had any contact with. Initially, I ignored their mail assuming it was junk mail. After 2 or 3 months I called CardConnect to inquire why I was getting statements from them given they were not my credit processor. I was told that someone representing me had signed me up. They gave me this persons name ( it was the sale man/intermediary that I had used to sign up with the credit card processor that the business was using when I purchased the business). I called and text-ed this individual but he did not respond. Not realizing Cardconnect was debiting my bank account for a monthly fee ranging from $55 to $161 a month, I ignored their statements. When I discovered Cardconnect had been debiting my checking account for 10 months, I was furious and called their customer service number. The agent told me I can cancel their service but no refunds were due to me. My call was passed to a manager who told me the same thing. I have since called my bank to report fraud and seeking a refund of some $600 to $800 taken from my account. These people are worse the fraudsters that run scams from overseas

very unhappy with the services from card connect. their sales agent are very dishonest and trick you into signing documents for the home office ! the home office will complete the forms for you and turn them into the leasing company. Terrance Blackmond is a independent sales rep for card connect . he convinced us that the clover system would be a good fit for our business. after 3 days in out store he gave up and never returned ! then the home office tried for 10 day to get programming right .the system never worked he had to pay a it guy to reinstall my old system so we could conduct day to day business. only to find out that card connect reported to northern leasing the the system was installed and up and running correctly. they have violated totally crossed the line! deceptive trade and misrepresentation . Terrance Blackmond is a thief. please save the trouble do not do business with this company

Pros: nothing! Cons: terrible reports! Overall: My previous merchant processor was purchased by card connect. After the merger, they started charging me for fees every month and annually that I was never charged before. Fees that weren't part of my original contract. When I asked them how they could charge me for fees I didn't agree to they said that if I didn't want to be charged to cancel my account. Totally crazy and unfair

We had two merchant accounts with CardConnect when they were canceled, one was charged an early termination fee while the other was not even though neither was disclosed in the contract I signed and even provided a copy back to them when asked. Their is clearly no where in the contract that states there is an early termination fee in the contact. When I went back and fourth with the company they stated that they did not know why one company was charged and the other not charged. He also said he understood my frustration but could not do anything to help.Desired Settlement: I want the $750 that I was improperly charged as an early termination fee refunded

All this time my credit card processing has been done by Fist Data. At no time has CardConnect preformed any card processing for my business. Desired Settlement: An apology and a full refund

When I closed my credit card machine acct with Card Connect, they automatically deducted $750 from my bank acct without my approval. When I contacted my sales rep and his manager, they assured me verbally and via email that reimbursement will be paid out which never occurred. At the time of service installation, I was informed by their sales rep that I will NOT be bound to a contract nor a cancellation fee. "No cancellation fee" is also noted on the application I signed. I have called and emailed the sales manager numerous times but nothing. I even called the corp office and I was informed that the sales manager has to initiate the process to proceed but Corp office never received one

My business has been scammed by Cardconnect sales agent acting as a Vice President of Cardconnect. We were mislead from the very beginning. They stated that there was no contract or any termination fees. We were simply just trying it and if we didn't like it there was no risk. And now we do not like the service and we have tried to cancel and they are saying there is a $750 dollar fee. When we called Corporate Cardconnect they could not help with anything because these agents are independent sales. but if they are selling Cardconnect service, they should know and the agents should be trained properly. Now we are stuck with $750 dollar cancellation fee and 48 month terminal lease, which we never signed for. We didn't know anything about this being 48 month lease and we do not have any contract. We called them and requested a contract from the terminal leasing company and it has been a week and we have not received any contract form from Cardconnect. Otherwise, we have to pay $3000 dollars on a $300 dollar machine to break the lease

I feel there was a zero star rate I would be so much happier!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!! So many expectations to help my business grow. Had it a week and it does none of the things I was told that was included in the package. It's all added charge. Trying to get out of the contract and because I was never given this in writing I haven't a leg to stand on. Paul at the complaints team is as useless as they come and accuse you of lying. It states on their website that they will pay your previous device out of the contract and this was also advised by the rep to. He now says this can't be done. Pack of robbers and don't give two tosses about your business. Please make sure when signing up they you get this in writing before signing up. This is something first data should automatically provide but instead they say it's up to us to ask for it. You also get charged more than you actually get told! Terrible company and no remorse

We have had an appalling experience… We have had an appalling experience with First data and I urge anyone thinking about using them to read all of these reviews. The rep came to see us, we talked things through and thought we had asked all the questions. We decided to go ahead, they came back, we signed. The Clover device itself is great and you will be wooed by that. HOWEVER we were told that we were on an 18 month rolling contract, we asked specifically about how we terminate the agreement if it wasn't working for us. We terminated within the 18 months (it wasn't working for us for lots of reasons which I won't go into, but similar to others - extra charges etc) and discovered we could not terminate the Clover agreement which runs for 48 months regardless of whether you still have First data services to it. We were not told this by the rep - an ANY point. I signed the agreement on a tablet, the clause regarding this was not pointed out to us as onerous clauses should be, but buried deep within the document and given 3 lines only. We never received a copy of this agreement. First data's formal complaint system is frankly laughable. When you finally get to speak to the right person, it is self ejudicated and rests entirely on 'you signed it, so tough' I have never been spoken to like I was. Not getting an agreement was my fault apparently, I should have asked...They are not interested that their reps are clearly glossing over the terms and conditions, not interested that the selling techniques are on doggy ground and seemed to take delight when I said I would take it to the Ombudsman, Clover are an Irish company - so good luck with that. Many other reviewers are saying the same thing about the selling techniques, so it cannot be an isolated event preying on a new business start up, slightly wet behind the ears (as we were). Please take heed, do not use them - all of these similar experiences must tell you something. They operate very close to a red line in what is an aggressive industry. Beware

Awful company DO NOT USE. Received a call and they said they are closing our account in 14 days as we are a Gay Lifestyle store. We have had no chargebacks or any issues for over 9 months when opening the store. So why now? This is a targeted attack to put us out of business due to race or gender! Already having interviews with newspapers. Do not support this company! To no surprise I sent an email to Firstdata and nothing! No acknowledgement and No reply! This is a serious matter and will now take it even further to the Financial Ombudsmen or wherever I need to go to be heard and have this business penalized for its actions

Returning card machines. They never miss a chance to get extra charges out of you. We stopped using the card machine 2 years ago after they used new regulations as an excuse to charge us extortionate uncapped rates for processing our payments. They were also going to charge us a fortune to cancel our terminal lease so we decided it was cheaper to just finish paying the lease and then return the terminal. I contacted them in June to get the return information but they never responded, so sent it again when we receive our DD notification for payments after our lease was due to end in August. They did eventually reply this time, stating we had 15 days to return the terminal to the address on the letter, or we would be charged for it, only problem was it took nearly 15 days for the letter to arrive, so we had to send it back straight away, next day delivery. They should either make the date from receipt of the letter or send the letter out first class on the day it is written. They con you with low rates to get your business and then before you know it you will be paying thousand of pounds more than you were paying to your previous provider

Absolutely dreadful the worst experience I have ever had. Have reported them to financial services for mis selling as the promised savings did not materialize but charges are more service atrocious and impossible to get them to rectify problems

Our restaurant suffered severe smoke damage from a neighboring store's fire. We called the customer support line to get instructions on what to do with the machine during the closure period since we were not using the machine. We were instructed to send it in so that there would not be damage to the machine. When we reopened 11 months later, they told us that we would have to buy-out the current contract at $3,000 and open a new leasing agreement. We called multiple times to get this sorted out as we were instructed to send in the equipment and found it to be ridiculous to essentially have 2 leasing agreement because they 'could not' send out new machines under the current contract
